Salt room build-out guide

How do you build a salt cave or salt room?

Start by deciding what kind of salt experience you are creating and how it will operate commercially. Then coordinate the room, specialty equipment, building systems, salt finishes, and installation sequence around that use.

Planning

Choose the use, size, and operating model.

Determine guest capacity, session format, accessibility, seating, whether active halotherapy equipment will be used, and how the salt room connects to reception and the rest of the facility.

Building systems

Review HVAC, electrical, moisture, and equipment requirements early.

Salt-room conditions and specialty equipment can affect mechanical and electrical planning. Manufacturer requirements and any needed specialty engineering should be incorporated before walls and finishes are finalized.

Construction

Prepare the room before specialty installation.

General construction, utilities, lighting, flooring, access, finishes, and protection of surrounding areas should be coordinated with the salt installer or specialty supplier.

Opening

Commission the room and document operating requirements.

Confirm manufacturer instructions, cleaning and maintenance procedures, staff workflow, guest policies, and any local inspection or operational requirements before launch.
